We really like the 'social' competitions, which have been great fun and a way to get to know people.
It's great to be able to access the course at different points and play just a few holes.
From zero to complete golf addict in just one year!
We were openly welcomed and met with warm, friendly, enthusiastic and hospitality from everyone.
If you've got a competitive nature, you WILL NOT STOP until you start seeing improvement. We've been out there in all weathers and a good round can literally make my week.
Did I mention a round of golf burns around 900 calories? - but don’t panic, these are easily replenished in the clubhouse; where the welcome is warm, and the food is excellent, everyone looks after us all so well.
Burnley Golf Club... what can I say... I’m completely smitten. I joined Burnley Golf Club with my mum on a ladies offer, and I can honestly say it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
Burnley Golf Club ladies are like a sisterhood, what a bunch of wonderful, wonderful women. There is something to love about every single lady, and they are eager to help you learn the game they are all so passionate about. I felt included and encouraged from day one, and the laughs have come thick and fast.
As a non-golfer, I decided to see what it was all about and dropped an email to Burnley Golf Club. I received a phone call the following morning from the Lady Captain, to arrange a time to go out and give it a go. I explained that I had no clubs and was advised this would not be a problem, as the club have a loan scheme for clubs and equipment. From the minute I arrived at the club I was welcomed and met with warmth, friendly enthusiasm and hospitality from everyone.
Once I had finished playing my first round of golf I decided I wanted to play more and joined that evening. Since then I have gained my full handicap with the help, support and encouragement of the club members and have gone on to play in the Ladies Competitions, enjoyed social golf and all the outings, and also the club's own social events which have been great fun and a way to get to know more people of the friendly club that is Burnley Golf Club. Looking forward to many more sessions at the club and giving people the welcome and support that I have received from the new family I have met from that one email I sent.
With retirement looming and living alone, I was looking for something to fill the empty hours and as my cousin was a member at BGC I decided to give golf a try. The club had an offer for ladies new to golf, a package which was ideal, £50 for three month membership including three lessons with the professional. I joined as a full lady member the following year, it's the best thing I ever did. The ladies took me under their wing, taking me round the course giving me tips on my golf, the rules but more importantly the friendship that Burnley Golf Club has in bucket loads. Playing golf gives me exercise, fresh air and a sense of belonging. The golf course is not it’s only asset the social side of the club is second to none with theme nights, quiz nights, snooker, poker, bridge and many other events. As a single lady I feel comfortable going to the club on my own, the members, now my friends and the staff make you feel at home, I don't know what I would do without them.
