Burnley Golf Club began as a nine hole course in 1907 and became eighteen in 1913. For over a hundred years it has provided sport and social activities for people in Burnley and the surrounding areas.
Junior Section of the Year
The Junior Section, now the Junior Golf Academy, has always been a thriving section of the club. Burnley Golf Club was awarded ‘Junior Golf Mark’in 2006, and ‘Golfmark’ and ‘Clubmark’ from The EGU and Sport England in August 2009. Last Year we won ‘Junior Section of the Year 2008, Great Britain and Ireland’ because of our commitment to Junior Golf. Joining the Academy
All juniors wishing to take part in any Junior Golf Academy activity, whether members or non-members must complete the Junior profile and consent form before they can do so. These are in your welcome pack which every junior receives when they start at the
academy.
Coaching
The Junior Academy coaches children from 6 years old to 18. Children do not have to be a member of the golf club to access this coaching Coaching takes place each week during the summer months. Winter coaching usually takes place once a fortnight but this can be dependent on the weather. There is a small charge for this coaching. Once the children are reasonably proficient they are asked to join the club as full members, get a handicap and take part in competitions.
Free Taster Sessions
Burnley Golf Club will also be offering free taster sessions for alll ages. The next taster days will be announced soon.

The Junior Academy
The Junior Golf Academy is run by the Junior Organiser Mrs Glorioa Varley with help from the Professional and a committee of volunteers (parents, friends and club members). Our aim is to provide a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf and to provide juniors with the best possible coaching and competitions. We have a current Child Protection Policy, which is on our website, and all our volunteers are CRB checked. Most have attended Child Protection Courses and the Organiser and Professional have current First Aid Certificates. We are an equal opportunities club.
The Junior Golf Academy is also part of the Burnley Schools Sports Partnership and with the help of the English Golf Union and the Golf Foundation we are providing coaching in Burnley Primary Schools and a number of Secondary Schools.
Fees
If your child wishes to join the club our fees are; 7years to 13 years £50 per year and14 to 16, £125 per year.
