Burnley Golf Club achieves Clubmark
Burnley Golf Club has been awarded the Clubmark accreditation by the English Golf Union in association with Sport England. Clubmark is a ‘kitemark’ of quality for sports clubs.Clubmark is awarded to sports clubs who have a child friendly environment, where children are welcome to come and learn the sport in an atmosphere that enables them to learn and develop. Burnley Golf club is such a club. It means that the club has achieved at least the minimum operating standards in safeguarding and protecting children, quality coaching, equal opportunities and good management. The club has child protection and anti bullying policies. Members of all ages are welcome to join the club and take part in all activities. Over the last four years the Junior Academy at Burnley Golf Club has developed and expanded under the Junior Organiser, Gloria Varley, the PGA Professional, Matthew Baker and a band of dedicated volunteers. In 2006 the club received Junior Golf Mark, the only club in the area to do so.

Last year, 2008, they were voted Junior Section of the Year, Great Britain and Ireland. They were the inaugural club to gain this award and are hoping to repeat this achievement in 2010. Burnley Golf Club are pleased to be the first golf club in this area of Lancashire to be awarded golfmark and clubmark. They are a forward looking club who are happy to welcome new members into a warm friendly club.
